Manual Steps to setup Gnome Shell Extension on Ubuntu
Here we shows how to do manual setup of gnome shell extensions for those who could not install directly from https://extensions.gnome.org/ site. For this tutorial we have used System Monitor extension and once it is configured it will look like below.
Download extension package from github https://github.com/paradoxxxzero/gnome-shell-system-monitor-applet and extract it to same folder.
Below is the extracted package under ~/Downloads
Copy the system local path till folder “gnome-shell-system-monitor-applet-master” and cd to this path on terminal.
As shown below cd to path “/home/abilash/Downloads/gnome-shell-system-monitor-applet-master”
Then copy the directory “firstname.lastname@example.org” to gnome extension path “~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions” using below command
cp -r email@example.com/ ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/
We need gnome shell restart to reflect the changes on the screen. For do so Alt+F2 and then enter “r” as shown below.
Immediately you can find System Monitor Extension is visible on the right top corner of the screen.
Additionally we can configure this extension using Tweaks tool which is available on Software Center.
Go to Tweaks -> Extensions -> System-monitor and click on gear wheels to configure the extension on the fly.
